Build a claim-to-source research checklist
Original task-preparation guidance by James. This is not a hands-on test, endorsement, or verification that a particular account or plan supports every step.
Prepare the input
Ask a narrow question with a time period and jurisdiction. Decide what would count as a primary source before accepting a summary. Use public, non-sensitive information.
Example request to adapt
For this question, distinguish confirmed facts from interpretation. For each factual claim, give a source title, publication date if available, link, and the passage that supports it. Prefer primary sources and say when a claim cannot be supported. Question: [public research question].
Check the result
Open each original source yourself. Check that the passage exists, supports the exact claim, and applies to the requested date and place. A citation can be real but irrelevant, outdated, or misinterpreted. The task is not complete merely because an answer includes links.
Create a non-sensitive source checklist locally. Sending material to an external AI service is different from processing it in our local utilities.
What the official pages say
Access and signup
The provider's pricing page offers login or free signup and describes paid upgrades. Anonymous-search access was not tested; do not interpret the signup link as verification of every account requirement.
Free access and limits
The Pro comparison advertises deeper answers, access to additional models and higher file-upload limits relative to Free. Promotional credits are not treated here as permanent free-plan benefits.
Data handling
Perplexity's privacy notice describes collecting queries, uploaded documents and account information. It distinguishes consumer services from Enterprise/API arrangements. A cited answer still needs checking against the original sources.

Before using Perplexity
This directory describes an external service; Destination Dazzle does not run it or process prompts or files for it. Following the link opens the provider's website. The source checks above describe their scope and do not establish that a service is suitable for confidential material.
- Check the official pricing page for free limits, credit requirements, and recurring charges.
- Read the provider's privacy and retention policies before sending confidential files or prompts. Do not assume this service shares our local-processing approach.
- Try a non-sensitive example of your task and check the output before relying on it.
