What is Fancy Text?
Fancy text is regular text rendered using special Unicode characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block and other Unicode ranges. Unlike custom fonts that require the recipient to have the font installed, these characters are part of the Unicode standard itself — so they render on virtually any device, in any app, on any platform. Bold, italic, script, gothic, and circled versions of letters are all standard Unicode characters that copy and paste just like normal text.
Where to Use Fancy Text
Instagram: bios, captions, story text. TikTok: profile name, video captions, comments. Discord: server names, channel topics, messages, nicknames. Twitter/X: display name, bio. YouTube: video titles, descriptions, comments. Reddit: post titles, comments, subreddit names (where allowed). WhatsApp & Telegram: messages and group names. Anywhere you can type, you can paste fancy text.
Why Some Letters Don't Change
Not every character has a fancy Unicode equivalent. The Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400 to U+1D7FF) only covers A-Z, a-z, and 0-9. Accented letters, non-Latin scripts, punctuation, and emoji are typically passed through unchanged. For example, typing "Café" will style the 'C' but leave the 'é' as-is. This is a limitation of the Unicode standard — the consortium simply hasn't created styled versions of every character that exists.
Character Limits and Encoding
Most fancy Unicode characters are outside the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP), which means they use 4 bytes in UTF-8 and 2 code units in UTF-16. Some platforms count these as multiple characters against your limit. For example, on older Twitter, a 100-character message in bold text might only fit 50 bold letters. Modern Instagram and Discord handle this correctly. If you hit a character limit unexpectedly, try a different style — some use BMP characters and count as 1 each.
Privacy and Browser-Based
Every transformation happens locally in your browser. No text is uploaded, no analytics track what you type, nothing is stored. This makes the tool safe for personal names, draft content, or anything else. You can verify by checking your browser's network tab — zero requests fire when you type.
