Free Countdown Timer

Set a countdown in hours, minutes, and seconds. Runs in your browser with an optional sound when time is up.

Why this matters

A reliable countdown timer sounds trivial until you actually need one — for a presentation, a cooking step, a Pomodoro work block, a HIIT interval, a kid's screen-time limit, or a quick meeting break. Phone timers are fine but get distracted by notifications. Web timers are usually full of ads or buried in productivity apps that want your email.

This countdown runs entirely in your browser tab with no signup and no data sent anywhere. It supports hours/minutes/seconds, plays an optional beep when it ends, and survives navigation if you keep the tab open. Use it as a Pomodoro timer (25/5), a Tabata interval (20s on / 10s off), a laundry or cooking timer, or any short-duration reminder that shouldn't depend on your phone.

Best uses: presentation timing, Pomodoro work/break blocks, Tabata/HIIT intervals, kitchen timers when your phone is greasy, classroom activities, and meeting time-boxing.

What this countdown timer is for

Use it for study sessions (Pomodoro-style), cooking, presentations, exams practice, or short breaks. Set hours, minutes, and seconds, then Start. Pause when you need a break; Reset restores the duration you typed.

Browser-only timing

The timer uses your device clock via setInterval. Keep the tab open for best accuracy — some browsers throttle background tabs. Optional beep uses the Web Audio API locally; nothing is uploaded.

India tip

Handy for UPSC/board study blocks, cooking timers when your phone is charging, or keeping a visible countdown on a shared screen without installing another app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

It usually continues, but mobile browsers may pause background timers. Leave the tab visible for critical countdowns.

Can I set more than 99 hours?

The hour field accepts up to 99. For multi-day countdowns, use the Date Calculator instead.

Is anything saved on a server?

No. The countdown runs only in your browser.
